SAVE MONEY: Window Tinting Benefits for Homeowners

Residential Window Tinting can Save You Money!

Window tinting benefits for homeowners can contribute to potential cost savings in various ways. Here are some ways in which window tinting benefits for homeowners can help save money:

  1. Energy Efficiency:
    • Window tinting can enhance the energy efficiency of a home by reducing the amount of heat that enters during hot weather and preventing heat loss during colder seasons. This can lead to lower energy bills as the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems operate more efficiently.
  2. Reduced Cooling Costs:
    • By blocking a significant portion of the sun’s heat, window tinting helps maintain a more comfortable indoor temperature. This can result in reduced reliance on air conditioning, leading to lower cooling costs, especially during the summer months.
  3. UV Radiation Protection:
    • Window tinting can block a significant portion of harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV rays can damage furniture, flooring, and other interior elements, causing them to fade and deteriorate over time. By reducing UV exposure, window tinting helps preserve the condition of interior furnishings, potentially saving money on replacement costs.
  4. Extended Lifespan of HVAC Systems:
    • The reduced workload on HVAC systems due to improved insulation and temperature control can contribute to a longer lifespan for these systems. This can lead to cost savings by delaying the need for HVAC repairs or replacements.
  5. Improved Insulation:
    • Window tinting can act as an additional layer of insulation, helping to keep the indoor temperature more stable. This insulation effect can reduce the need for heating in the winter and cooling in the summer, resulting in energy savings.
  6. Glare Reduction:
    • Window tinting can reduce glare from the sun and other external light sources. This not only enhances comfort but also can reduce the need for artificial lighting during the day, leading to lower electricity bills.
  7. Enhanced Privacy:
    • Tinted windows provide increased privacy by limiting the view from the outside. This can reduce the need for window coverings such as blinds or curtains, saving money on window treatments.
  8. Protection for Electronics:
    • UV rays and excessive heat can damage electronic devices and appliances. Window tinting helps protect these items by reducing their exposure to sunlight, potentially extending their lifespan and reducing replacement costs.
  9. Increased Property Value:
    • Energy-efficient features, including window tinting, can enhance the overall value of a home. This can be beneficial when selling the property, potentially providing a return on the initial investment.
  10. Environmental Impact:
    • Reduced energy consumption and a lower carbon footprint contribute to a more sustainable and eco-friendly living environment. While this may not result in immediate financial savings, it aligns with a broader trend toward responsible and energy-efficient homeownership.

It’s important to note that the window tinting benefits for homeowners and the degree of cost savings may vary depending on factors such as climate, the type of window tinting used, and the specific characteristics of the home. Consulting with the window tinting professionals at Tintmaster can provide tailored recommendations based on the unique needs of your property.

Why do I need to tint the windows on my home?

Tinting windows often gets associated with cars and other vehicles, but did you know that tinting your home windows will provide numerous benefits for the look, feel, and safety of your home? Let’s discuss some window tinting solutions …

Learn More about What you need to know about Residential Window Tinting.

Sunlight Protection with a View

We all love a bright, sunny day, but the heat and UV rays from the sun can damage our skin, our furniture, and make our homes too warm for comfort. Sunlight rays can also ruin electronics, digital items, and can even cause wood to rot from routine exposure.

The wonderful thing about window tinting is it significantly reduces the harmful UV rays, without blocking your view of the outside. You may think that adding window tinting could make your home dark and dreary, but that isn’t the case. Your view to the outside isn’t blocked at all.

Tintmaster offers residential window tinting solutions to all these problems:

  • Add privacy
  • Reduce glare
  • Reduce sun damage and exposure
  • Reduce energy costs

Keep Your Cool … Don’t Overheat

Regardless of what time of year it is, save your home the stress of keeping cool with the help of window tinting. Our transparent, almost colorless spectrally-selective applied window film offers the best ratio of visible light transmission to heat rejection. These clear films don’t alter the appearance of glass, but are scratch resistant and reduce up to 55% of solar heat gain – keeping your house cooler and your bills lower over time.

Extra Privacy

Our homes are our sanctuary, and we want to feel the ultimate sense of privacy when we’re at home. We offer two effective types of privacy films for your home. These are great in any areas you’d like extra privacy – such as bathrooms and closets.

Mirrored privacy films provide daytime privacy. They allow you to see outside, but stop others from seeing in during the daylight hours. At night, their mirrored surface is ineffective and outsiders can see inside if there is light from within. Privacy films also help block UV rays up to 99%, which protects your furniture and anything else inside your home.

Frosted privacy films provide discretion at all times – night and day. Light can still pass through the windows, but you will be given privacy at all times. These films are great throughout the home, and especially helpful in bathrooms. Our window films provide great privacy and protection from the outside world 24/7, without making you feel excluded or shut-in.

Safety films also provides safety from window breakage from any weather-related issues or attempted break-ins. When window film is installed in cars, homes, etc., it’s also harder to see in to see any valuables. Learn More about adding an extra layer of home protection with window films.

Not to mention, installation is fast, cost-effective and easy in every home!

Window Tint Tax Credit: New Tax Credit Benefits through 2032

Window Tint to Get New Tax Credit Benefits and an Extension Through 2032

This past August, the Biden Administration announced the Inflation Reduction Act which included a variety of different things from a focus on climate change and energy, to healthcare costs and prescription drugs. Hidden within the deal are residential efficiency tax credits (window tint tax credits) which have been extended through 2032, and that may apply to window films for taxpayers’ homes.

The New Credit

The IRS has stated that existing Non-Business Energy Property Tax Credits can be applied retroactively from 2022 through 2032. The annual tax credits are good for up to 30% of the cost of the improvement up to an annual maximum credit of $1,200.

Window films, which can easily be installed can save about 5 to 10 percent of a building or home’s total energy bill. Most films, permanently stick to the existing glass windows and are designed to block 40 to 60 percent of room heat being lost through the glass. They can also reduce air conditioning costs by 30 percent during the cooling season.

“Window films are often the unsung hero when it comes to reducing carbon emissions as they reduce energy use and can be readily installed to upgrade existing windows as part of a building’s envelope,” said Darrell Smith, executive director of the International Window Film Association (IWFA). “Window films offer a cost-effective way to improve a home’s energy efficiency by reducing solar heat gain coming into the interior in summer, as well as helping to retain heat in winter,” added Smith.

Credit Amount

Under the existing rules of the IRS and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), the window tint tax credit qualifies as an insulation material or a system that is specifically and primarily designed to reduce heat loss or gain in a home. This provision provides taxpayers with a 10 percent tax credit with a lifetime maximum of $500. So, with this new law in place under the Inflation Reduction Act, it significantly increases the amount of the credit as well as extends it through 2032, as well as extends the offer to non-primary residences.

Are You Eligible?

There are certain income limitations under the IRS that may affect a homeowner’s eligibility and tax credits that may be used. Additionally, certain stipulations may prevent you from taking the credit.  Anyone who is looking to claim this credit is encouraged to speak with a trusted tax advisor.

SAVE MONEY WITH TINTMASTER

If you want to enjoy lower utility bills or qualify for a possible window tint tax credit, get residential window tinting for your home. At Tintmaster we have spent the last 25 years providing each of our clients with high-quality window tinting and would certainly love to do the same for you.

Keep Harmful UV Rays Out and Let the Sunshine IN!

Ultraviolet rays, also known as UV rays, are the dangerous rays from the sun that can cause skin cancer. Limiting your exposure to the sun and wearing sunscreen is recommended for human protection. But skin is not the only thing UV rays can damage.

Let’s talk about how to keep harmful UV rays out and let the sunshine in!

They are also responsible for damaging many items in your home. Drapes, carpets, upholstered furniture, walls, artwork, even hardwood floors can be faded and dried out from these harmful rays. Anything in their path is at risk. The Tintmaster Team has put together a list of options for homeowners to consider when looking to protect your home or business, including window film.

HOW CAN YOU PROTECT YOUR HOME AND FURNISHINGS FROM UV RAYS?

There are several ways to protect your home from these damaging rays. Some are more expensive than others, but read on and compare so you know your options

REPLACEMENT WINDOWS

Replacement windows with UV resistant glass can keep the rays out, but this is not an affordable option for most homeowners as they are a large investment. However, if you are considering replacement or double-pane windows, don’t underestimate the importance of UV resistant glass.

CURTAINS & DRAPES

Curtains and drapes will certainly block the UV rays when they are closed; unfortunately, they also block the sunlight which some people enjoy, especially in sunrooms. Plus, don’t forget that over time, the fabric of these shades and drapes will suffer from sun damage and need to be replaced.

SHUTTERS & AWNINGS

Much like curtains shade the interior of your home, shutters and awnings serve the same purpose on the outside of your home. They also have the disadvantage of blocking much of the light while blocking the UV rays.

WINDOW FILM

Keep harmful UV rays out and let the sunshine in!

UV blocking window film will block the UV rays, while letting light in, and is a much more affordable option than replacement windows.

REDUCING COSTS AND ENERGY

If you’re wanting to make your home or business more energy efficient, window tinting is a much cheaper option to double-paned windows or entirely new windows. With our prestige line of films, you cut up to 55% of solar heat gain and let in up to 70% of the light, while double-paned windows can only block about 8-15% of heat.

When you’re using window tinting, you’re letting your air conditioner take a well-earned breather, and that’ll reflect in your utility bills over time, as well as potentially increasing the longevity of your air conditioner unit.

Block Harmful UV Rays that Cause Fading

Home and business owners alike love our window tinting because it will keep the harmful UV rays out by blocking the infrared rays of the sun. This keeps homes and offices cool and helps to reduce solar heat gain, which in turn, lowers energy bills. But the sun has other rays that, while they don’t cause solar heat gain, they can cause severe fading of interior carpets and fabrics.

The Pros at Tintmaster get questions about fading all the time. What causes fading? Why do some items fade faster than others? Which colors fade the worst? What can I do to prevent fading? We hope to answer those questions and give you a little insight here:

Q. WHY DOES ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT CAUSE COLOR TO FADE?

A. The technical term for fading is photodegradation. Many factors contribute to fading processes, including the chemical and physical structures of the object, the type of pigments or dyes present, the intensity and amount of light, and the humidity and temperature of the environment.

Q. Why do some items fade faster than others?

A. Fading is a chemical process … let’s break it down:

  • Different objects will fade at different rates depending on their chemical makeup. Dyes contain light absorbing color bodies called chromophores. We see colors based on these chemical bonds and the amount of light that is absorbed in a particular wavelength.
  • When light, particularly ultraviolet light, which has a very short wavelength, hits an object, the energy contained within interacts with the exposed surface. The new energy excites the outer molecules of the object causing chemical bonds, thus reducing the vibrancy of the color and the strength of the object over time.
  • When ultraviolet rays break down the chemical bonds, it causes a bleaching effect. Colors that reflect the light more will fade less. Colors that absorb more light will fade more. Color and molecular damage can never be repaired.

Q. WHICH COLORS FADE THE FASTEST?

A. Under most circumstances, red fades the fastest of all visible colors. Short-wavelength light such as blue or violet has greater energy than lower-wavelength light, and red has the longest wavelength of visible colors. Red objects reflect red light but absorb harmful, energy-rich, short-wavelength light and will fade faster.

Q. What can I do to prevent fading?

A. 3MTM SUN CONTROL WINDOW FILMS

Sun control window films block harmful UV rays by up to 99%! They are easy to install and last for years. While sun control window film by 3MTM will definitely solve your fading problems, there are a couple of other handy benefits it will provide as well:

  • Because window film blocks most of the UV rays, it also blocks most of the heat.
  • Window film can reduce energy costs by up to 30%.
  • Window film will even reduce the sun’s glare on your TV and computer screens.

Window film is the most cost-effective way to reduce the UV rays without sacrificing the sunlight that you enjoy.

Keep Harmful UV Rays OUT to protect against fading & sun damage

Prolonged exposure to the sun can cause artwork, furniture, flooring and expensive window treatments to lose color and break down over time. But even more critical is the increased risk of premature skin aging and skin cancer caused by harmful UV rays entering through the windows of your home. Now, 3M™ Window Films give you an economical and easy way to protect your furnishings – and your family – from the damaging effects of the sun. Keep harmful UV rays out and continue to enjoy all the brilliance and beauty of natural sunlight.

Extra Level of Home Window Security with Window Film

Glass broken cracks splinters in front of the bus station

Make your windows hard to penetrate – and help keep outside dangers from getting in.

Break-ins. Natural disasters. Stray baseballs. Whatever the cause of impact, glass doors and windows are vulnerable to damage – and broken glass poses a hazard of its own. You can’t control crime, accidents or the weather, but you can get an added layer of home window security and protection – one that’s virtually invisible.

3M™ Safety & Security Window Films make glass harder to penetrate and hold shattered pieces in place, helping keep both people and property safe from dangers posed by intruders, severe weather and broken glass. For an even higher level of protection and home window security, the 3M™ Impact Protection Attachment System securely fixes the filmed window to the frame, turning your window into a robust shield capable of withstanding forced entry, earthquakes and even bomb blasts.

Break-ins and burglaries

Every 18 seconds, there is a burglary somewhere in the United States. Locks and security systems deter some burglars, but what about your home’s most vulnerable points of entry?

3M Safety & Security Window Films make it harder to break through your glass doors and windows. Instead of a quick smash and grab job, a would-be robber is faced with a window that won’t yield quickly or quietly. And the longer it takes an intruder to break through, the longer you have to get help.

Accidents and natural disasters

When disaster strikes, can your windows take a beating without shattering into dangerous shards of glass? From everyday accidents to airborne storm debris and even seismic activity, windows are vulnerable to damage.

Whatever the cause of breakage, 3M Safety & Security Window Films can help reduce the risk of injury from flying glass. These micro-layered and tear-resistant films hold the fragments in place – where they can’t hurt your family or your belongings.

With vs. without 3M™ Safety & Security Window Film

Break-and-enter robberies typically involve breaking a window. Glass shatters and falls, and a burglar gains easy entrance. But if the window is protected by 3M™ Safety & Security Window Film, any glass that shatters stays in place – deterring intruders and gaining precious time for you and your family.

Residential Window Tinting Saves Money

Will I really save money if I have my home windows tinted?

Residential Tinting: A Worthy Investment!

There are few things more rewarding in life then purchasing your very first home, and as exciting as this might be, there are obviously many things to consider when taking on such an endeavor. Although window tinting may not exactly be the first thing that comes to mind when acquiring a new home, taking the time to have windows of your home tinted is undoubtedly a worthy investment that you certainly don’t want to overlook! Read more about how residential window tinting saves money.

Read more about residential window tinting and why you need it, here.

Residential Tinting: Furniture Protection

To put it bluntly; residential window tinting can save you money, and when making an investment, obviously the desired result is to profit from it in the future. You may find yourself asking, “How can home window tinting benefit me or save money in any way?”

One simple answer is this; by reducing the amount of sunlight that’s able to enter your home, the window tint protects both the furniture and interior of your home from incurring damage due to excess sunlight. If you have furnished a home in the past or are in the process of doing so, you’ll realize that furniture can be very pricy and is certainly not something you would like to replace before necessary. However, if left unprotected from the harsh rays of sun, this may very likely be the case!

Residential window tinting saves money and by applying tinting film to the major windows of your home, you will provide your home and furniture with a veil of protection from the sun, without obstructing too much natural light from entering you home. This allows you to enjoy the benefits of your home’s windows, the natural light and view of the outdoors, without the risk of causing any serious damage.

Residential Tinting: Save Energy

While the prospect of protecting the interior of your home may be reason enough to consider tinting your home’s windows, by making your home much more energy efficient as well, window tinting also helps reduce those dreaded heating and cooling bills that await you each month. Once again, residential window tinting saves money. Although seldom acknowledged, tinting film has the unique ability to minimize heating and cooling loss. This allows your home to conserve heat during the wintertime, while simultaneously repelling heat during the summer! This valuable benefit offered by tinted windows is almost certain to not only cut down on energy costs, but also to make your home much more comfortable in those uncertain summer and winter months.

Residential Tinting: Privacy and Security

Last but certainly not least, by having your windows tinted you are also taking a proactive step in better protecting your home from the risk of attracting unwanted attention. By obscuring the interior of you home from the outside, tinted windows allow you to keep your personal property hidden from public view. This not only provides your home with an extra layer of privacy, but also reduces the likelihood of a home invasion or robbery.
